3 Year Old Standard Grey Male Chinchilla -- "Big Guy"

This chinchilla has a sponsor!  He is being sponsored by Yuyao W. until 7/10/19!!  If you're curious about or interested in sponsoring a chinchilla, contact us for more info!  Sponsoring is available as an option on the webstore, and you can even choose a chinchilla to sponsor!

We have a standard grey male chinchilla that is looking for his new home. His name is Big Guy (though actually, he is a normal sized, if not small, chinchilla). Big Guy came to the rescue not long ago, along with another chin (Mr. Bennington, caged separately), when his owner was moving cross country and was unable to take the chinchillas with him. We have down that Big Guy is about 3 years old, born approx. 3/2016. Great age to add him to your family!

Big Guy’s color is called standard grey, which is the classic color in chinchillas – a greyish color over his back, with a white belly.

Big Guy is currently residing at one of our foster homes in Chicago, IL. Here’s what his foster home has to say about him:

“Big Guy has been adjusting really well! Even on the first day, he was hopping around the cage and letting us pet him. He doesn’t necessarily come to the cage when you open the door, but let’s you give him neck and ear scratches. His favorite types of treats are the more fragrant ones like the flower buds (rosebuds) and rosehips. He also likes cheerios. Big Guy just zips around the cage all the time, he’s a very swift fella. My roommate does a routine every day where she puts her hand in the cage and he will nibble her hand or her sleeve for a sec, then sit on her hand, but he’ll scurry away if you try to pick him up. He likes to kick his bedding into his food bowl, which is silly, but he’s a very sweet lil guy. My roommates like to call him Curious George.”

Big Guy has never bitten anyone, though may nibble (as noted above), like all chinchillas.

Please note:  Big Guy is located at one of our foster homes in Chicago, IL. He can be adopted out directly from his foster home, or he can be brought back to the rescue to be adopted out. Please allow for time to schedule an appointment due to him being in a foster home. Thanks for your understanding.

The adoption fee for Big Guy is $75

5.5 Month Old Standard Grey Male Chinchilla

We have a standard grey male chinchilla who’s looking for his new home. He came to NWI not long ago and he is now ready to go to his new home! We have down that he was born on 10/4/2018, which makes him just now 5.5 months old. Great time to take him home.

This male’s color is called standard grey, which means he is grey over most of his body, except for his belly, which is white.

This little guy is super energetic! He loves to bounce all around and explore his cage. Every inch! You better not forget to close the cage door, or he’ll expand that to exploring all over the house! He’s actually not that difficult to pick up, but with all that curiosity comes energy, and he’s just not the type to chill with you for hours. You can definitely pick him up and hold him, but he will be moving around, checking everything out. Due to his energy levels, he’d probably really enjoy playtime when he’s old enough, and maybe this would help burn off some of that endless energy! Just a very on-the-go chinchilla. Did I mention he’s energetic? Sweet though, and doesn’t bite.

He would make an ok “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had one before, provided they understand that he is very energetic (not a bad chin, just energetic… for days).

This chinchilla is currently caged alone, and we don’t know how he does with others. However, if you interested in pairing him up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

The adoption fee for this standard grey male chinchilla is $135

Chinchillas & Critters ON HOLD

6 Month Old White Ebony Female Chinchilla

Please note: this chinchilla is on hold w/ deposit

We have a white ebony mosaic female chinchilla who’s looking for her new home. This female was born on 9/11/2018, which currently makes her just at 6 months old. Great time to take her home!

She’s a white ebony, which usually means she’d be white with dark markings, but it seems she got less of the ebony influence, so she’s more white in color, with more pale, dilute looking markings. Kind of a neat look!

This chinchilla is a curious girl that likes to parkour off the sides of her cage! She’s relatively easy to pick up and does well with being handled and petted. She’s curious and wants to check everything out, so she won’t sit with you forever, but she will chill with you for short periods of time! Sweet girl though, doesn’t bite.

This girl would make a great “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had one, as long as they understand that she is more on the active side.

This chinchilla is currently caged alone. However, if you interested in pairing her up with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

The fee for this white ebony mosaic female chinchilla is $250

Please note: this chinchilla is on hold w/ deposit
